The draws for the first round of the Brooks Mileson League Cup and the Ernest Armstrong Memorial Cup will be broadcast on Made in Tyne and Wear’s Football Matters programme on Friday, August 4.

The draw will be held at Jarrow FC – who have just been promoted to the Ebac Northern League.

Marske United, North Shields and Shildon are automatically given a bye for the first round of the League Cup as semi-finalists in last season’s competition.

Eighteen other teams will be given a bye into the second round, leaving 11 first round matches to be played

There will be five first round ties in the Ernest Armstrong Memorial Cup for second division clubs, with 11 teams given a bye into the second round.

Glenn Youngman, chairman of the Ebac Northern League, said:  “Fans always look forward to the cup draws and we’re delighted to help launch the new season by having the draws on Football Matters.”

Football Matters presenter Mark Carruthers added:  “The two cup draws are a great way to start the new series of Football Matters which will be shown at a new slot on Friday nights.

“A special guest will be helping to make the draw.”

Football Matters is on Freeview channel 7, Sky channel 117, Virgin channel 159.  The programme will be broadcast on Fridays at 7pm and repeated on Saturday mornings at 10am.
